Our Philosophy

Get inside the heart of tiata fahodzi and find out where we came from, what we are all about and where we’re going.

Thought
leadership

Since tiata fahodzi was founded in 1997, we have been committed to arts, artists and audiences and making storytelling as accessible to as many people as possible, with a specific focus on our African heritage communities.

With our cultural intelligence, decades of organisational knowledge and lived experience: we offer unique insights and fresh points of view within an industry that still has a long way to go with diversifying entrenched practices and representing the true Britain.

However, we do more than just pay these beliefs lip-service – we put them into action.

From building The Artistic Director Leadership Programme in 2017 to aid diversity among arts leaders to launching a stock photo library with The Stage to show more people of colour in technical theatre roles, we build, consult and advocate for the resources we need to diversify the sector.

“I’m a British Ghanaian with a Jewish wife and Afro-Eurasian and Afro-Jewish children. My mixed experience – like that of so many others – is recognised and celebrated through tiata fahodzi’s work.”
