September is already off to a fantastic start. tiata fahodzi are thrilled to announce that our spring 2016 production – i know all the secrets in my world – has been nominated for the Alfred Fagon Audience Award. i know all the secrets in my world went on our largest tour to date – 26 dates, 12 venues, 5 weeks – and was our current artistic director Natalie Ibu’s debut production for the company.
i know all the secrets in my world is a duet between a father and son in their familial home after the bricks come crashing down around them following the loss of their wife and mother. A journey of sound and movement which moves through their grief and meditates on fantasy, gender roles, disconnection, absence and the permanence of love.
The Alfred Fagon Audience Award is a non-profit organisation that recognizes and celebrates the depth of talented Black British playwrights of Caribbean and African descent writing in Britain today. Other nominations include Soul by Roy Williams and Cuttin’ It by bricks and pieces author Charlene James.
This year the top play voted for by the public in the online poll will win the award. The polls are open now and close on 16 October.
